This system was developed by Dr. Craig Erskine-Smith following his experience as a cosmetic dentist over the past 20 years. The system includes -
- The information contained in the booklet with the associated tables.
- Dentagauge™ Duo. (Dentagauges 1 & 2)
- Esthetic Engineer™ - tooth positioning and smile design software.
During the development of the Anterior Analysis and Restorative System, it became obvious that it would be highly desirable to move teeth by small amounts to avoid unnecessary stripping. It followed that if one was going to go to the trouble of moving a tooth, one might as well keep moving it until it was in the ideal position.
For this reason Dr. Erskine-Smith went on to develop interactive software that enables the dentist to simply input anterior tooth sizes and spacing into the program and then receive schedules that prescribe the ideal -
- Position of a tooth.
- Finished size.
- Spacing between the teeth that will need to be obtained to get the ideal outcome.
- Which way to move a tooth and by what distance.
- How much to add or cut back from the side of each tooth so they end up in proportion and symmetrical.
This software is called Esthetic Engineer™ and is included in the Advanced Anterior Analysis and Restoration System, or is available separately.
DENTAGAUGE™ DUO
The Dentagauge Duo is comprised of Dentagauge 1 and 2.
Why two gauges? Due to the complexities of measuring teeth in situ, in a relatively straight line and in normal arched curvature, it was found that all the design requirements could not be integrated into one gauge.
After establishing this fact we then developed Dentagauges™ 1 and 2, which together provide comprehensive measurement capability specifically designed for the dental professional.
